if anything,
i hope the weight is on your
back,
not your chest;
like days in the sun
or needles in the wood,
live lightly
and deliberately;
hold in
and hold on
and hold out
like a flame
blown,
or like circles
in the crop;
or like ashes
in the clay;
be unnoticed
until you are
spilled over the
surface,
level with the world,
and have evened the playing field;
sit down,
and feel what is around you
spin
on its head
like a dime on its rim.
hold in your hand a stone,
and let it hold you like
the earth
itself.
