Submission Form & Guidelines
While Pegasus understands the value of difficult conversations and uncomfortable ideas, certain concepts can be extremely upsetting or inappropriate for a school creative arts magazine, and we must be understanding and accommodating of peoples’ sensitivities. We also must follow school guidelines regarding sensitive content.
Guidelines for Submission
Some of these are not hard-and-fast rules, and may be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you’re in doubt of whether or not your work would be acceptable, please submit it, and be assured that our staff will work directly with you to address any concerns or gray areas we find, and to explain our decision if we cannot accept a submission.
All submissions to Pegasus should:
- Be edited for standard conventions (unless they’re intentionally broken)
- Refrain from mention of specific means or intent around topics of self-harm or suicide
- Avoid romanticizing or encouraging substance use or abuse
- Refrain from defamation. Interpersonal references should be anonymous; use of real names or likenesses requires explicit consent from the subject(s).
- Avoid hate speech in a derogatory sense. (Used in a neutral sense to explain how one was referred to is acceptable. Used in a hurtful, directed fashion is not.)
- Avoid gratuitous/graphic violence
- Avoid depictions of explicit sex
- Avoid gratuitous profanity or vulgar language for no creative effect
